Today in Cardiology names CVProfilor “Device of the Month”

ST. PAUL, MN January 28, 2005 – The CVProfilor®, an early detection test for cardiovascular disease developed by Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. (OTC: HDII.OB) (the “Company”), was featured as “Device of the Month” by Today in Cardiology, January 2005 edition.

The CVProfilor measures the elasticity of small and large arteries to determine if patients have early stage cardiovascular disease that requires further diagnosis and treatment. The FDA approved test is inexpensive, non-invasive, quick to perform and provides immediate results.
Today in Cardiology is a monthly publication that is distributed to every cardiologist in the United States, representing over 100,000 physicians.

“Recent medical research shows blood pressure to be ineffective for measuring hypertension,” said Mark Schwartz, Chairman and CEO of the Company. “We expect that the American Society of Hypertension will revise its definition of hypertension to emphasize the vascular nature of the disease in the very near future. The evidence continues to show that the CVProfilor gives doctors the chance to identify heart disease before it results in a heart attack or stroke.”
Dr. Jay Cohn, professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School, and director of the Rasmussen Center for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, is one of the inventors of the technology.

Cohn recently made headlines for his involvement in the creation of BiDil, marketed by NitroMed Inc., touted as the nation’s first drug for use by African American patients with heart disease.

Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. is working to save lives by reducing the risk of vascular disease with its CVProfilor® DO-2020 System. The CVProfilor measures the elasticity of small and large arteries, a key indicator of cardiovascular health. It is FDA approved and in use by physicians around the United States.
